After stops in Switzerland, Germany and Austria we were ready to go back to Italy. We were driving from Gosau, where we had been staying in Austria, to Venice. We decided to leave early in the morning to make a stop at Liechtensteinklamm on our way. Liechtensteinklamm is a gorge that you can walk through on wooden bridges. We arrived there when they opened, at 8 am, and this is highly recommended. The path is only 1 km long and relatively small so I believe it could easily get overcrowded. They say it takes about 1.5 hours to walk but it only took us about 20 minutes. That being said, we were super happy we went there, but we probably would have been disappointed if we had traveled to the area only for this sight.
In Austria we stayed in a small town called Gosau. It was conveniently located between Salzburg and Hallstatt, our two destinations in Austria. We started the day by driving about an hour to Salzburg. I had no expectations going there as I knew very little about the city. We had no plans but just spent the day walking around, exploring the city. I would love to go back and spend more time here, as it was absolutely beautiful.
We left Salzburg in the afternoon to go back to our apartment rental. There we enjoyed a home cooked dinner on our balcony, taking in the beautiful view. After eating we decided to go for an evening excursion to Hallstatt.
